Despite Nakanojo being located outside the northern limits of large-scale green tea production areas, the custom of Tōcha, a tea-tasting contest, continues to be practiced in the region.
The only fact is it was brought here by the people’s will and passed on. It’s similar to the story of the discovery of tea a long time ago. The greenish-blue exterior of the former Bai-Getsu is reminded of the tea color, the miscellaneous goods collected during the past, and the accumulation of objects reflecting the hopes and dreams of the people, overlap with the mythological image of enthusiasm in the pursuit of the plant that gives mysterious powers. Daruma’s eyelids become tea leaves and sweets add a sense of festivity because of the poetic relationship between us and things.
