島山：望安x中之条台日交流展

望安島的漂流物

目前被認為僅剩數十名常住人口的澎湖望安島花宅地區，過去曾有約一千人居住於此。由於人口急速外流與聚落衰退，許多傳統形式的建築因此得以保存至今。牆面以島上取得的珊瑚石、玄武岩，以及以貝殼燒製而成的石灰，混合紅土、砂等材料所調製的石灰砂漿修築而成，呈現出如同藝術品般的美感，在聚落各處皆可見其獨特風貌。
除了島內的硓𥑮石等自然素材之外，透過海上貿易自台灣本島及日本等地傳入的紅磚、紅瓦、木頭與裝飾性磁磚等建材，也被運用於傳統建築之中。
我一邊漫步於海岸，一邊想像這些牆面如何經歷先人⻑久以來的摸索與試驗，最終形成今日的姿態，並拾起散落於海岸上的漂流物。那些或許是從拆除的老屋中流失出來、承載著人手製作痕跡的小小碎片，在保留著人們生活記憶的同時回歸大海，經歷海浪的沖刷與磨蝕，最終再次漂回岸邊。這樣的碎片，在望安島各處皆能尋覓。
此次創作，我以適應島嶼環境而形成的閩南系建築中的生活核心「中庭與水場」作為舞台，利用在望安島拾集而來的漂流物進行造園創作。

Drift Objects of Wangan Island

It is said that only a few dozen year-round residents remain today in Hanataku on Wang’an Island in Penghu, which was once home to nearly 1,000 people. Due to rapid depopulation, numerous historic buildings have been left standing. Their walls—finished with lime mortar made by mixing red clay, sand, and lime produced by burning seashells with locally sourced coral stone and basalt—possess a work of art beauty that can be seen throughout the village.
In addition to local natural materials like lao-gu stone (coral stone), these walls incorporate red bricks, roof tiles, wood, and decorative ceramic tiles brought in from the Taiwanese mainland, Japan, and other regions through trade.
As I walked along the beach, I imagined the painstaking trial and error through which earlier generations perfected these walls while I gathered pieces of drift material. Small fragments, likely washed out from demolished homes and still retaining the imprint of human hands, return to the sea carrying memories of daily life. Tumbled and polished by the waves over time, they eventually wash back ashore. Such fragments can be found all across Wang’an.
For this project, I created a garden using drift materials collected on Wang’an Island, setting it within the courtyards and waterside spaces that served as the center of daily life in these island-adapted Minnan-style buildings.
