視覚を失った彫刻家である三輪途道と群馬県立盲学校の生徒たちによる、触覚で楽しむ彫刻展。触れることの豊かさと、視覚に頼らないことで逆に「見えてくる」豊穣な世界。三輪途道は仏像・神像などの伝統的な技法に習熟し、卓越した技術と現代的な感覚による彫刻作品を手掛けてきたが、病のため視覚を失った。しかし創作意欲は衰えることなく、触覚による新たな境地を切り拓きつつある。盲学校の生徒たちの作品は、視覚に頼らず世界をどう捉えるのか、世界の認識について根源的な問いを投げかける。

Prefectural School for the Blind. The richness of touch and the fertile world can be “seen” by not relying on the sense of sight.

Michiyo Miwa has mastered the traditional techniques of sculpting Buddhism and Shinto statues, and has created sculptures with outstanding technique and a modern sensibility, but lost her sight due to illness. However, her creative spirit has not waned and she is breaking new ground with her sense of touch.

The works of the students of the School for the Blind raise fundamental questions about how we perceive the world without relying on sight and about our perception of the world.
