This is a quiet work with an “Umbrella Flower” revived from an unwanted and discarded umbrella and a harpsichord an ancient musical instrument made of a hard, white, chrysalis-like shell. On the evening of Sunday, October 8, the harpsichord, which has begun to hatch from its chrysalis, will emerge in the form of a vivid, real instrument and play renaissance and baroque music in a gentle tone. This is an installation, an event, and an experiment in enjoying the metamorphosis from spatial art to temporal art. How happy we would be if our heartstrings could resonate with the beautiful melody? Harpsichord performance by Miho Hirai, harpsichord tuning by Takashi Ikesue, and umbrellas provided by the people of Nakanojo Town.
