コロナ禍では、世界中の人たちが大切な人たちと会えない日々を過ごした。本来なら、誰かと共有したかった、大切な人と過ごしかった日常があった。そんな日常の一コマを、42 カ国、約 300 名の人々に切り取ってもらった。
今回、作品の素材として枡を使った。枡は、昔、食料や貨幣として貴重だった米を測る道具である。
ここ伊参は、美しい棚田の風景が広がる。「日本で最も美しい村連合」にも加盟している。この風光明媚な地で、当時の貴重な米に代わって、世界中の人々の「大切な想い」を枡に詰めた。
地球を模した不完全な球体状の作品は、世界中の人々と共有したい「想い」や、共有したかった壊れやすい繋がりを象徴すると共に、未曾有の渦中での人々の『生』や『死』の記録でもある。

During the pandemic, people were unable to meet with their loved ones, share their daily lives or spend time together at important moments. But they still recorded those events on their phones.
I asked 300 people from 42 countries to choose an image of a single moment that they wish they could have shared in person.
The images are displayed in masu boxes, used to measure rice in Japan when rice was ‘precious’ as both food and a form of currency. Now, the boxes contain ‘precious moments’ from all over the world.
The work is a record of birth, life and death arranged in the form of an imperfect sphere, representing the way the fragile connections that hold the world together have been stretched but not broken by the pandemic.
