2 年前、旧第三小学校で制作していたら室内中にサイレンの音が大音量で鳴り響いた。近場で熊が出たらしい。その時 1 人だったのでとても怖かったのを覚えている。なぜ怖かったのか考えた。自分以外に誰もいないと分かっているのに、何かそこにいるんじゃないかと探ろうとして耳が敏感になっていたからだと思う。そういった聞こえてくる音以外のものから得体の知れないものを想像して、頭の中で膨らんでいくのが怖くもあれば面白かったのでその感覚を作品にしたいと思い制作する。
Two years ago, when I was making art at the former third elementary school, the sound of sirens rang loudly throughout the room. It seemed that a bear appeared nearby. I remember being very scared because I was alone
at that time. I wondered why I was afraid. I think it was because I knew I was alone, and my ears were sensitive, trying to find out if something was there. When I imagine strange things that are outside of what I actually hear, it can be a scary or interesting experience for these images to grow in my mind, so I wanted to make this feeling into artwork.
今回のパンデミックで人との身体距離や行動範囲に制限が置かれたことによって、その距離の「遠さ」を “The window contains nothing, while the mirror contains everything.” Robert Smithson.
