写真は平面ですから、カメラは 3 次元を 2 次元に変換する機械といえます。私たちが写真メディアに心を動かされるのは、空間から平面に次元をひとつ下げて世界を保存しているからでしょう。同様に映像メディアそのものが興味深いのは、この世界を、時間軸を伴う 2 次元に変換しているからかもしれません。私の作品は、カメラで 2 次元化された世界をまた 3 次元に戻す試みです。3 次元的なものの見方と、カメラの 2 次元的な表現方法を行き来する感覚を楽しんでください。
Photographs are 2D media. We can say the camera is the machine that converts the world from 3D to 2D. This media record of the world through deducting one dimension from 3D space to a 2D plane is why we are interested in photo media. I try to return media back to 3D from 2D as translated by the camera in my artwork.
