昔々、大きくて広い池がありました。そこに人々が集い、縄文時代より暮らしを営んできました。後に養蚕業で栄える赤岩です。昭和の初めには近くを鉄鉱石を運ぶ機関車が走りました。現在、当時の面影を垣間見ることのできる建物と家並みが残ります。
