“Passing” is an artwork exhibited with two other works, “Song of a Route” and “The Mountain Appears.” If the two other works represent the “starting point” and the “ending point,” this piece stands as the “passing point.” While walking through the forest, I realized that the roles of active and passive are reversed between objects and time. When facing a physical object like a tree, I am active—I move toward it. But when the relationship is with time, I become passive, like the tree—unmoving while time passes. This shift, brought about by the act of passing, unsettles the boundary between my body, time, and space. In passing, both active and passive perspectives arise simultaneously within me. I aim to make that act visible through this work.
