レコードや磁気テープ、フィルムといったかつてのタイムベースト・メディアは、記録の再生に回転運動を用いてきた。
「巻き戻し」や「早送り」といった言葉は、そのような方式を象徴するものといえる。
この方式は主に工学的な要請によるものであったが、私たちの生活と強く結びついた時間のイメージ、すなわち循環的な日々や季節の移ろい、またそれらを可視化する装置としての時計のメタファーとしても巧妙に作用するものであった。
今あらためて、そのような再生装置を用いることで、人の生活に刻まれた時間と回転の関係を考えたい。
Former time-based media, such as records, magnetic tapes, and film relied on rotational motion to play back recorded content. Terms like “rewind” and “fast-forward” are emblematic of this mechanism. While this system primarily arose from engineering requirements, it also resonated deeply with our lived experience of time—its cycles, the changing seasons, and the metaphor of the clock as a device that visualizes temporal flow. By revisiting these playback devices, I seek to reflect on the connection between time and rotation as it is inscribed in our everyday lives.
