かつて中之条の人々が語らい、病からの癒しを求め集った旧小池薬局。その場所が、フラメンコの古典、カンテ・ホンドにおける最古のパロの一つである、ソレアの光のもとで再構築されます。本作は、ソレアの音楽形式をそのまま再現するというよりも、そのコンパス（主となるリズム構造）を用いて、孤独、沈思、悲劇といったこのジャンル特有の哀愁を帯びた詩情を思わせる、断片的な要素を呼び起こす試みです。複数の打楽器と音の装置がこの孤独な場に静かに佇み、鑑賞者に対して演奏したり耳を傾けたりするよう促します。また、アキレス・ハッジスとコラボレーターたちによるパフォーマンスも時折行われます。
The former site of the Koike pharmacy, once a place where the people of Nakanojo conversed and sought respite from their ailments, is reimagined under the light of the soleá, one of the oldest palos of flamenco’s cante jondo. More than a direct tracing of the soleá’s musical form, the work attempts to use its compás (main rhythmic structure) to conjure scattered components that are reminiscent of the genre’s forlorn poetics: loneliness, contemplation, and tragedy. A host of percussion devices and musical automata discreetly inhabit the loneliness of the site, and invite the viewer to play and listen in an environment that will also include occasional performances by Aquiles Hadjis and his collaborators.
