裂いた竹を編んで作られた「巨大な」針は、静かな記念碑のように佇んでいます。それはかつてこの地域の小規模な養蚕業を支えた女性たちに敬意を表すものです。彼女たちは一本一本の糸を通して、布地だけでなく、人々と自然、そして文化を結ぶ繋がりを織り上げてきました。この彫刻は、自然の資源と持続可能な活動についての彼女たちの深い理解を物語っています。表面の一部には中之条の人々から寄贈された古布が貼られており、記憶と地域のアイデンティティが幾重にも重ねられています。
“Giant” needles crafted from woven split bamboo stand as quiet monuments. They honor the women who once played a central role in the region’s small-scale silk production. Thread by thread, they wove more than fabric—they wove lasting connections between people, nature, and culture. The sculptures speak to their intimate knowledge of natural resources and sustainable practices. The surface is partly clad in fragments of old textiles, donated by the people of Nakanojo, adding layers of memory and local identity.
