One phrase from Shigeru Yamamoto’s talk that stayed in my mind as he showed me around the mountain village of Kuni: “Long ago, the mountains belonged to both humans and animals. Now, the mountains are the territory of the animals.” This must mean that animals and humans coexisted well. Animals have no borders. It is always humans who claim territory. This is true of Gaza and Ukraine. Since ancient times, the people of this land have been grateful for the blessings of the mountains, and have known that they have been kept alive by them. This restaurant, with an animal memorial at the entrance, is a place where you can face the connection between life and life through the medium of “eating.” This is a restaurant where mountain gods and people gather.
