六合の山里をご案内してくださった山本茂氏のお話の中に、心に引っかかるフレーズがあった。「昔、山は人と獣のものだった。今、山は獣の領土。」かつてこの地は獣と人が共生する豊かな土地だったということだろうか。獣は土地に線引きをしない。領土を主張するのはいつも人間。ガザしかり、ウクライナしかり。いにしえよりこの地の人々は山の恵みに感謝し、生かされてきたことを知っている。入り口に鳥獣供養塔の建つこの食堂は、「食べる」ことを介在として命と命の繫がりと向き合う場所。ここは山の神々と人が集うレストラン。
