「お蚕の里」と呼ばれる赤岩の、町並みが見渡せる丘の上に穴を掘った。
蝶のように両腕を広げている形や、繭のように丸まっている形、幼虫のように細長くのびた形。
訪れた人は、好きな穴に体を埋める。顔はめパネル ならぬ「体埋め穴」だ。
お蚕さんは、羽化しても飛べない。飛べないが羽ばたく。音をたてて力強く羽ばたく。
私たちも飛べないけれど、羽化することはあるかもしれない。
穴に籠って、丸まったりのびのびしたり羽ばたいたり。
ひとりでも、ふたりでも、みんなでも… ちょっとこもろうかな？
On a hillside overlooking the hamlet of Akaiwa, once known as the “Village of Silkworms,” I dug a series of earth hollows. One opens its arms like a butterfly, another curls up like a cocoon, and another stretches long like a larva. Visitors are invited to sink into the hole they choose—like face-in photo boards, but for the whole body.
Silkworms cannot fly, even after they emerge. Yet they flap their wings—loudly, with strength. We may not fly either, but perhaps we can still emerge. Cocoon yourself in the earth. Curl up, stretch out, flutter.
Alone, in pairs, or all together—shall we cocoon for a while?
