Many silkworms were raised, cocoons were brought to the city, and raw silk was sent abroad. The farther these silkworms went, the more prosperous, bustling, and rich their hometowns became. Domesticated, flightless butterflies that cannot return to the wild. As larvae, they eat mulberry leaves with a voracious appetite, but after the pupa, they stop eating altogether. And the adults have no mouths to eat. It is a little sad. In the past, sericulture was practiced throughout Japan and was actively exported. It is said to have been a source of funding for Japan’s modernization. Even though the sericulture industry has declined, I cannot help but feel that there are still small fluctuations here and there that have not hatched.
