In each hot spring resort area, there is a gateway to another world of the extraordinary, not to mention public bathhouses, mysterious souvenir shops, hidden treasure museums, and so on. We are inspired by the legends of Shima and other hot springs, the culture of public bathhouses, mountain worship, and the plants and animals of the past and present that live in Nakanojo. We create works of art by developing our images through mutual dialogue. By collecting these works in Art Village Shima, we invite visitors to an extraordinary space based on the concept of a “hidden treasure museum,” a facility that originally housed rare and hidden treasures from all ages and cultures.
