外ばかり見ていた Fourth Grade Daydreaming

授業を受けている間の窓の外の世界。風で揺れる白布のカーテンや、次に旗が翻る瞬間を見ると誰かに話したくなった。雨の日は山の端を這い上がるような雲の行く末を辿った。休み時間に見た地面に広がる小さな世界や、背伸びしても見えない向こうの山で採掘されている蝋石のことを想像するのも好きだった。どんな天気でも山は美しかった。

Daydreaming about the world beyond the classroom window. A white curtain swayed in the wind, and the sudden flutter of a flag made me want to tell someone. On rainy days, I traced the clouds crawling over the mountain’s edge. During recess, I’d watch the tiny world spread across the ground, or imagine the soapstone being mined in the mountains. No matter the weather, the mountains remained beautiful.
