Kage Kata

Through the sculpture of “paper,” “blocks,” and “silicon,” using woodblock printing, I am exploring expressions that carve out the dark and hidden sides of history. Ninjas who served the Sanada family once lived in Nakanojo, but few people may have ever witnessed them, as they placed great importance on secrecy. I headed to the woodblocks, certainly sensing their presence in this area. A wild goose, the Sanada family’s reverse crest, was flying over Lake Biwa in red armor.
