Golden Eagle in the Pool

Last year, through an international art exchange program supported by Nakanojo Biennale, I had the opportunity to visit Thailand, where I encountered many water-filled landscapes. Feeling a deep connection between life and water, I was inspired to fill the unused pool at Isamamura with water and create an art installation there. This year, a nature conservation organization approached me and asked if I would like to use trees that had been cut down experimentally in a forest inhabited by golden eagles. These trees were removed to help protect the eagles’ habitat. The golden eagle is a large bird of prey with powerful legs, and it has long been considered the inspiration for the tengu, a mythical creature said to kidnap children. “A golden eagle flying over water. That’s interesting!” My artworks are born from the connections between people and nature.
