2024年9月、メキシコ・ハラパで開催された中之条ビエンナーレの国際交流に招待され、初めてメキシコを訪れました。異国の文化や素材に触れ、その土地でしか生まれない表現への思いが芽生えました。前回の中之条からメキシコ滞在、そして再び中之条へ戻るまでの創作を一つの流れとして捉え、今回はアマテ紙を用い、自身の思考や感覚を重ねた作品を制作。土地と個人の記憶が交差する中で、文化を越えた共鳴と創造の旅を表現しました。
In September 2024, I joined the Nakanojo Biennale exchange in Xalapa, Mexico—my first time there. Immersed in a new cultural and environmental context, I created work in response to the materials and atmosphere around me. I worked with amate paper, a traditional Mexican material, allowing me to connect place with reflection. What felt most meaningful was the continuity between my past Nakanojo experience, my time in Mexico, and my return to Nakanojo—each moment forming a thread in an ongoing dialogue between the familiar and unfamiliar, the past and present.
