本作品会場である伊参周辺は、かつて養蚕が盛んに行われた地域でした。
人の手を借りなければ生きられない蚕は、歴史上最も家畜化の進んだ生物と言われています。
自然とは、様々な要素の複雑な関係性から社会的に形作られていくものです。
にもかかわらず、それが「ありのまま」として存在するように思えるのは、人間が行為に対しての行為者、主体であるという人間中心主義的な考えが私たちの生きる社会の核となっているからです。
本作では、「蚕」という存在を通して、そのような構造に関する事柄を、様々な視点から問い直します。
The area surrounding the venue of this work, the Isama region, was once a thriving center for sericulture. Silkworms, unable to survive without human intervention, are considered the most domesticated creatures in history. Nature is not a given, but rather something that is socially constructed through the complex relationships between various elements. Nevertheless, we tend to perceive it as something that exists “as it is,” because our society is fundamentally shaped by an anthropocentric worldview that positions humans as the agents or subjects of action. This work reexamines such structures from multiple perspectives through the presence of the silkworm.
