自然や人間の活動の痕跡やそれらが時間と共に積層したものに興味を持っている。地層や岩石が地表に露出した箇所を指す「露頭」という言葉をキーワードに、その言葉の意味合いを拡張させることで樹木や人工物も撮影の対象としている。撮影では主にフィルムを使って作品を制作をしている。フィルムの感光面に光が当たることで像が作られるが、その現象もまた一つの痕跡であるからである。近年は、自然とそれに対する人間の態度というテーマで、現代における自然と人間の精神的な距離について作品を制作している。その精神的な距離について写真作品としてだけではなく、写真作品と鑑賞者との間にうまれる物理的な距離にいかにして落とし込むかをインスタレーションとして構成することを試みている。
I am interested in traces of natural and human activity, and the accumulation of these over time. Using the keyword “outcrop,” which refers to the area where strata or rocks are exposed on the earth’s surface, I expand the meaning of the word to photograph trees and man-made objects. I mainly use film for my photography. Images are created when light hits the light-sensitive surface of the film, and this phenomenon is also a trace. In recent years, I have been creating works that explore the psychological distance between nature and humans in modern times, with the theme of nature and the human attitude toward it. I am attempting to create installations that explore how to incorporate this psychological distance into the physical distance that arises between the photograph and the viewer, not just as photographic works.
