For me, art is about bridging the gap between time—joining the infant present to its mother past. This installation, created in collaboration with high school students from Manila and Nakanojo, embodies that dialogue where the echoes of history meet the whispers of today. Together, we explored the poetic interplay of light and shadow to symbolize memory, resilience, and hope. The students’ contributions reflect deeply personal stories, translating their emotions into a luminous visual language.

As viewers move through and beneath the suspended elements, their presence transforms the patterns of light and shadow, illustrating how memories and perspectives shift over time. The cloth-based medium adds a tactile, organic quality that fosters intimacy and invites reflection, connecting us to the enduring threads that link us to our ancestors. It’s a reminder of the shared experiences that define our humanity and the lasting impressions left by fleeting moments.

This project celebrates the transformative power of memory, collaboration, and interaction. It is a layered, reflective journey that honors resilience and our shared capacity to find hope in ever-changing stories.
