エリザベス・ペイトンがロックスターや映画俳優を描いた様に、自分もカッコイイと思う、憧れの対象を描いています。（ペイトンは実在の人物だけど自分は想像で）
当たり前のように周りに溢れていた漫画やアニメやイラストを見て育ってきたので、そういうものを自然にカッコイイなって思う。
ポートレートを描くきっかけは写真作品が好きだったからで、絵画を見たときには起こらないけど、写真を見たときにかなりの確率で起こる胸が締め付けられて泣きたくなる感覚、それをかなり意識している。
作品と対峙するときにいつも気をつけているのは限りなく客観的でいること。
世の中で大変なことが起こっていて、でも自分はそれを関係ないところから眺めていたいと思う気持ち。
熱狂の渦にいるのに1人だけ感じる孤独とか。それに似た感覚を大事にして制作に取り組んでいます。
I was impressed by Elizabeth Peyton’s portraits of rock stars and movie stars thus began to draw paintings of whom I admire. (My characters are based on my own imagination while Peyton draws references from reality)
As I grew up watching manga, animation and illustration, I can only draw manga-like portraits with relatively flat facial figures, as I also naturally think that they are attractive.
I started drawing portraits because I like photographs. I often become emotionally touched and amazed easily by a photograph, which I rarely experience when I see an artwork.
I try to keep that emotional feeling in mind at all time.
When I look at my own work I am always very careful and try to be as objective as possible.
As all sorts of outrageous happenings are going on in this world, I still try to maintain a distanced attitude towards it and possibly isolate myself from it.
I would say it is quite similar to being completely alone in the midst of a chaotic tornado.
Such emotion serves as an exceedingly important factor to the making of my works.
