アーティストであり、信仰を持つ者として、私は道教の魔術と芸術を深く結びつけてきました。私はとても宗教的な家庭で育ち、12歳の頃にこれらの魔術的な活動や瞑想に出会いました。それ以来、瞑想と強く結びつき、意識的なレベルで「兄弟」のような深いつながりを築きました。このつながりは、肉体的なものだけでなく、精神的な側面にも及びます。瞑想の際にはお香を焚くことが欠かせず、「香り」という素材は私の創作過程において重要な役割を果たしています。
「時間」「自然」「精神的意識」とは何か？瞑想は、身体と精神を一体化させるものです。そして、私が目指すのは「自然と人間の一体性」という真の状態、すなわち「自然の本質」に到達することです。このため、私の作品はお香を焚く行為を通じて表現されています。私は自分の作品を「行為」と位置づけています。一本のお香が燃え尽きるのにかかる時間は約15〜20分。その間に漂う目に見えない煙は、私が伝えようとする願いから生まれたものであり、その願いとは自然に従うことです。
お香を使うことは私にとって非常に個人的な体験であり、その背景や目的は決して漠然とはしておらず、とても明快です。だからこそ、私の作品に込められた情報は「時間」から生まれます。それは私の文化や繰り返し行う行動から導かれたものなのです。
As an artist and a religious believer, I have closely linked Taoist magic with art. I grew up in a very religious family. When I was about 12 years old, I came into contact with these magical activities and meditation. I began to connect with meditation. On the conscious level, we established a kind of blood relationship like “brothers”. This relationship is not only physical but also spiritual. During meditation, incense burning is indispensable, and “fragrance” has become a material in my creative process.
What are “time”, “nature” and spiritual consciousness? Meditation integrates the body and the spirit. To reach the true state of “unity of nature and human”, that is, the state of “natural authenticity”, therefore, my creation is expressed through the act of incense burning. I define my works as “actions”. A stick of incense burns out in about fifteen to twenty minutes. All these invisible smoke originate from a kind of wish that I want to express. This wish is to follow nature. Incense burning is also a very personal experience for me. So when I use incense as a material, its background and purpose are very clear to me, rather than vague. Therefore, my information comes from time. It comes from my culture and a repetitive behavior.
