Gene, Meme and Tech
The word Information comes from the Latin word Informare, which means Forming, Applying form. For Pythagoreans the most important substance of the universe was not matter, but the form it acquires by the inscribed information. They perceived the universe as built by numbers and explored it’s harmony. According to the 2nd law of thermodynamics the total entropy in a closed system can only increase over time. Life is a singularity in such system, because it reverses this process and produces information, which is one of the characteristics of living organisms. The first layer and the first carrier of information in living organisms is the Gene. The second layer that emerged in more advanced living systems is the Meme and that is the layer that hosts our conscious existence. There is a third layer predicted that is coming, which is called AI or Technological Singularity. Let us call the carrier of the AI Tech. The Meme is in similar reference to the Gene as Tech will be to the Meme. We are considering making a safe switch for the Tech that will allow the Meme to control the Tech and not letting it become independent. There is a similar switch that allows Gene to be bound to the Meme and it is called Religion.
