芸術は私にとって悲しみの忘れ方であり、ネガティブな感情を肯定してくれ優しさでもある。喜びを写真に切り取るように、想いを絵筆に乗せるように、悲しみの時間を捉えた記録メディアを改変することで、私は感情を作品にして昇華させていく。見えない光を映像に、聴こえない音を音楽へとつくり変えることが私の作家としてのあり方だと考えている。
Art is a way for me to forget sadness, and it is also kindness that affirms negative emotions. Just like how we save happy memories in photos, or how we note down our thoughts on paper, I modified the record media of my sadness and sublimated my emotions into artwork. I believe that my way as an artist is to change unseeable light into pictures, and to change inaudible sounds to music.

東京生まれ。武蔵野美術大学卒業。
現代美術作家として音響作品、実験映像、サイトスペシフィックアートなど媒体を問わず、世界各国で作品を発表している。
また映像ディレクターとしてファッション、プロダクトデザイン関連のコンセプトムービー、美術作品の記録など様々な媒体の映像制作を行なっている。

Shunsuke Watanabe is a Japanese contemporary artist based in Tokyo, where he obtained her bachelor degree in Media Arts from the Department of Imaging Arts and Sciences at Musashino Art University.
He works across the fields of site-specific installations, media art, sound and experimental film.
He is also a Film Director for fashion and product Design related art films, and has produced numerous works for a variety of media.
