マラカイボに生まれ、2009年から東京に拠点を置くアキレス・ハッジスの作品は、様々なメディアを用いて、現象のアイデンティティがその文脈によっていかに形成されるか、そして鑑賞者がいかに自身の美的体験の主燃料となるかをテーマにして研究しています。
絵画の論理から出発した彼の制作は、音楽、音、そして偶然性と脆さを取り入れた彫刻的なインスタレーションなどのメディアを使い、相互作用と知覚に関する疑問を収穫する環境の中で、鑑賞者とともに作品を発展しています。
彼のドローイング、映像、自作楽器、パフォーマンスは、アジア、ヨーロッパ、アメリカ大陸の多くの場所で発表されている。現在、東京のテンプル大学、法政大学で教えています。
Born in Maracaibo and based in Tokyo since 2009, Aquiles Hadjis’ work uses a variety of media to study how the identity of phenomena is shaped by their context and how viewers are the main fuel of their own aesthetic experiences.
Coming from the logic of painting, he uses media like music, sound, and sculptural installations that incorporate randomness and fragility to work with viewers to generate environments that harvest questions about interaction and perception.
His artwork, films and performances have been presented in many venues in Asia, Europe and the Americas. He currently teaches at both Temple and Hosei Universities in Tokyo.
