My artistic life arises out of romantic identification with the land and its constituent parts. My work is a means of navigating the middle position of being separate and at the same time entangled in the environment. In video/performance, I explore environments in a green-screen suit in an absurd effort to merge with the surroundings. Other works relate to theater, merging the actor with the backdrop to question the boundaries between categories. All involve a range of gestures, private symbols, and visual quotations to create sensation and pointed ambiguity. The works counter the acceleration of contemporary life and ecological twilight.
