セキ・イコネンはフィンランド人のリッタ・イコネンと日本人のせきなつこによるユニットです。今展示はセキとイコネンにとって、2005年にブライトン大学を卒業して以来初めてのコラボレーション。今回は二人の共通のテーマである自然とそこに住む人々について、共同で取り組むプロジェクトとなります。イコネンは身に纏えるスカルプチュアで、セキはフォトモンタージュの手法で、またその交差によってもたらされる新しいアプローチを用いながら、中之条に住む家族のポートレートシリーズを制作し発表します。
The artist duo Seki Ikonen is formed of Riitta Ikonen from Natsko Seki from Japan. This exhibition will be their first collaboration since graduating from University of Brighton in 2005. They will create a new work around road spirits, nature and people, focusing on Nakanojo residents. Ikonen’s wearable sculptures and Seki’s photomontage artwork will together create a series of re-imagined family portraits of people’s paths in Nakanojo.
