私はアーティストとして、常にさまざまな媒体に興味を持っています。インスタレーションの制作を始めてからは、たびたび政治的要素を持たせてきました。次第に、もともと勉強し仕事もしていた、映像制作へと移りました。現在、私の芸術活動はまた変化しています。仮想現実でドキュメンタリーの物語を伝えること。おおまかに言えば、没入型のツールを使用して、観客にとって深く親密な仮想世界または現実世界を作成します。私たちは最近、2作目の大規模なオープンワールド仮想現実ドキュメンタリーをリリースしました。そして子供の内的世界を扱う次の制作も始まっています。
現実世界であれ、より抽象的、または仮想的な世界であれ。共有、聞き取り、学習の可能性を高める作品を作ることに興味があります。私は、私たちが人間として住む内的世界と外的世界の間に橋を渡そうとしています。中之条ビエンナーレでは、記憶と伝統に焦点を当て、食物や食べることを通じた物語や経験を共有する作品に取り組みます。食物が栄養のためだけにあるのではなく、触覚、視覚、聴覚、嗅覚の変遷を伝え、それがどのように家族や種族的な生まれを示すものとなり得るのか理解したいのです。記憶や経験がますますデジタルだけに保存されるようになれば、何が起こるでしょう。これを中之条ビエンナーレに向けて学びたいと思っています。
As an artist, I’ve always been interested in various mediums. I started our creating installations, with often had political elements to them. I gradually turned towards filmmaking, which I actually originally studied and worked in. Now my artistic practice is turning again, towards virtual reality documentary storytelling, or more broadly speaking, using immersive tools to create deep and intimate virtual or real worlds for the viewer. We have recently released our second large scale open world virtual reality documentary, and starting to work on our next one, about the inner worlds of children.
I’m interested in creating artworks, which foster the possibility of sharing, listening and learning, be it in the real world or a more abstract or virtual one. I try to create bridges between the inner and outer worlds we populate as humans. For Nakanojo Biennale I’m working on an art work, which looks into memory and tradition, of communal sharing of stories and experiences through food and eating. I want to understand how food is a vessel not only for sustenance but also for family and community lineage, transferring haptic, visual, auditory and olfactory histories. What will happen, when memories and experiences are being conserved more and more only in digital forms and formats? This I hope to study for Nakanojo Biennale.
