Once, Hikarigoke (Schistostega pennata), a luminous moss, glowed in Sawatari. Perhaps layers of fallen leaves and shifts in climate blocked the light. Life and death exist within the flow of cycles. Trees, mosses, fungi, and minerals—none of them live in isolation. They are linked in mutual interaction.
