私が一貫して追究しているテーマは、動物や人間、いわば生き物の「かたち」である。
異なるものが「出会い」、うごめき変わり続けるその緊張感を、絶えず動く「線」に変換しながら、生きている「かたち」を表出する。
今回の「出会い」のテーマは「衝突」、つまり「戦い」のかたちをとっている。
まだ誰も倒れていない、一瞬の静止状態。
私を惹きつけるのは悲劇性ではなく、緊張感であり、まさに何かが起ころうとしているその瞬間である。
私たちは、未来の悲劇の場に立ち尽くす、無力な観察者なのだ。
The theme I have consistently pursued is the “form” of living beings—animals, humans, and all creatures. By transforming the tension that arises when different entities meet, writhe, and continuously change into ever-moving “lines,” I seek to express the living “form.”
In this work, the theme of “encounter” takes the shape of “collision,” in other words, battle. It is a moment of stillness—no one has fallen yet. What draws me in is not the tragedy, but the tension—the very moment just before something is about to happen. We, the viewers, are powerless observers, standing in a place of impending tragedy.
