Barbershops have long played an important role as part of the town’s community, rather than being merely places for haircuts. They serve as spaces that reflect the local history and culture while also functioning as hubs for interaction among residents. In Nakanojo, barbershops that have been passed down through generations are cherished as local landmarks. Barbershop proprietors observe the events of the town and the transitions of people across generations, sometimes fostering social connections. As the number of traditional barbershops declines in modern times, we hope they will continue to exist as vital cultural centers that support the life of the town.
