Imagined forms.

Why did the shapes of cars and airplanes conceived by humans take the shapes they did? These shapes were devised to reduce wind resistance and to fly. When considering these forms, we have looked to the natural world for clues. In this sculpture, the artist creates surfaces by spiraling wire and then joining each of the countless surfaces to create a form. The sculpture is transformed from line to surface, and from surface to volume, and then appears as a sculpture. The artist translates the form he has drawn in his mind into an actual visible form. The viewer, in turn, uses their imagination to fill in the blank spaces that appear to be missing or invisible. I feel that tracing forms created by the laws of nature leads to imagining the most beautiful forms.
