中之条産業近代史 養蚕―その非近代化について Nakanojo Modern Industrial History Sericulture－about its non-modernization
中之条の産業近代史と聞いて、誰もが思い描くのは養蚕である。
しかし明治から昭和にかけて養蚕の興隆とその衰退を見ていくと、養蚕は近代化というより「近代化できなかった」と言ってよい。
私は養蚕業に現代文明が置き去ったものを見た。
内容は中之条という枠組みからはみ出て、今我々を取り巻く文明の姿のイメージを描くものとなった。
いわば「中之条を含む養蚕業からみた文明論」というものとなっている。
When hearing about Nakanojo’s modern industrial history, everyone envisions sericulture. However, considering the rise and fall of sericulture from the Meiji era to the Showa era, it can be said that sericulture could not be modernized. I found what modern civilization left behind in the sericulture industry. The content went beyond the framework of Nakanojo and became an image of the civilization that surrounds us now. So to speak, it is a “civilization theory from the perspective of the sericulture industry, including Nakanojo.”
